Rules and Regulations

The established rules and regulations are meant to ensure a safe and productive environment for all users. Common rules and regulations include:

  1. Safety comes first. All patrons must follow safety guidelines at all times. This includes rules about wearing appropriate safety gear, handling tools and equipment properly, and on time reporting of any accidents or injuries. Refer Makerspace Safety Guidelines for more details.
  2. Register in log book.Project members must sign in and out daily before and after using the makerspace.
  3. Respect. Promote a culture of respect and inclusivity in the XMUM makerspace. This includes rules about treating others with respect, respecting each other’s ideas and projects, and not engaging in any form of discrimination or harassment.
  4. Cleanliness. Keep the makerspace clean and organised at all times. This includes rules about cleaning up after using the space, properly storing tools and materials, and disposing of waste properly.
  5. Proper Use of Equipment and Makerspace Asset. Currently, users can only use self-provided equipment in the makerspace, so they need to ensure they use the tools correctly. Project members should not attempt to modify or alter equipment or asset placement without permission from XMUM IT. The project team will be responsible for compensating any reported damage or losses.
  6. Intellectual Property. This includes rules about respecting others’ intellectual property, including copyright, patent laws and not infringing other’s rights.
  7. Code of Conduct: Any inappropriate behaviour observed will have consequences for violating the rules. These should be reported to XMUM IT in a timely manner.
  8. Revoke of Space Usage. XMUM IT reserves the right to revoke makerspace space usage from existing awarded project teams who have not fully utilised the space productively for seven working days.
  9. Be creative and have fun.
