ABOUT INSTRUCTION ROOM

Instruction Room is a dedicated space to provide library community for information literacy and research instruction, workshops or training sessions to help patrons develop the skills that they need to access and use information effectively.

There are 48 seats and 16 desktop computers available in the instruction room. Users are not permitted to use the computers and multimedia equipment for unauthorized purposes or non-academic related activities. Instruction Room’s computers are not meant for temporary or permanent storage of files. Systems are configured to erase/reset everything and returns it back to uncluttered, defragmented state for every system reboot.

Rules & Guidelines

NEVER leave the equipment unattended. You are responsible of all the equipment indicated below, and notify Library/IT staff immediately if the equipment is damaged, lost or malfunctioning.

  1. Projector, microphone, monitor, mouse, keyboard and etc. *You understand that the University will investigate the damage or loss of the equipment, and you will cooperate in the investigation.
  2. USB ports are disabled to protects endpoints against rogue USB devices by proactively preventing the transmission of malicious files.

To ensure fair and proper use of the Library’s computers, users may not:

  1. Engage in illegal activities such as tampering with computer hardware or software; unauthorized entry into any computer system; or vandalism or destruction of computer files;
  2. Use the computer for the purpose of personal profit gain or for commercial activities;
  3. Access, transmit, store, print, promote or display offensive, obscene content;
  4. Install or uninstall any programs in the computer;
  5. Knowingly or inadvertently spread computer viruses;
  6. Damage the equipment in any way, including writing, spraying, scratching, etc.;
  7. Enter the computer room with food and beverages except plain drinking water;

How To Book

Currently, the campus instruction room is reserved for academic and research purposes only, bookings are available for staff only.

If you would like to make a booking

  1. You may fill up and submit online Instruction Room Booking Form with supporting document for further review and processing.

If you would like further information on venue availability or view of the instruction room space, please email it@xmu.edu.my.

Use Restriction

The Instruction Room is not designed to be used as a standard classroom or lab. Therefore, the instruction room should not be used to conduct a replacement class or lab teaching session.
