How to Apply for Makerspace

How to Apply ?

  1. Application is free.
  2. Application is opened for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) faculties.
  3. Respective faculties and departments who are interested need to complete and submit the Makerspace Online Application Form and attach their project proposal at least two weeks in advance before the start of every semester.
  4. IT team will be reviewing the applications and jurying the works with Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre for the applicant before offering the space during the semester commencement.
  5. The selected proposal works will be reviewed and shortlisted up to maximum 3 design groups criteria based on:

    – Presentation
    – Originality
    – Innovation
    – Artistic Quality

  6. The selected applicant(s) will be announced a week before the semester starts via email makerspace@xmu.edu.my with the space number allocated in makerspace.
  7. The space will be opened to the all patrons during Library operation hours for the whole semester.
  8. Up to a maximum of three design groups will utilise the space for a minimum of one-month period or maximum duration of one whole semester period.
  9. The top two most popular groups (frequently accessed by patrons) can choose to continue using the creation space for the next semester. Meanwhile, the remaining groups will need to vacate the space at least a week before the next semester starts.
