The Makerspace is a collaborative and experimental workspace designed for making, creating, inventing, and learning. Its aim is to inspire students to invent and innovate by providing opportunities for learning and allowing them to make their projects, present their creations, or exhibit ideas. All students are welcome to be part of the community, visit the Makerspace, and learn about creation.
These spaces will focus on helping students develop critical 21st-century skills in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). They encourage hands-on learning and provide space for students to discover new skills, cultivate critical thinking skills, and share their ideas in a conducive and supportive environment.
XMUM Makerspace emphasises inspiration and innovation, promoting creativity, learning, and collaboration through authentic and meaningful projects. While not necessarily tied to the academic curriculum, it can support and extend classroom learning.
In general, it can serve as a technical prototyping platform – an incubator for experimentation, creation, learning, collaboration, mentoring, invention, and provide stimulus for potential local entrepreneurship.
