Classroom Multimedia Solution

IT Department maintains and manages all campus classroom’s network, multimedia equipment and device connection. This includes small discussion rooms, standard lecture rooms, lecture hall, computer labs and auditorium. These classrooms are fully equipped with excellent audio and visual aids, modern hardware and cutting-edge software technology as well as WIFI access to provide a conducive environment for teaching, research, assignments, lab classes and projects discussion.

Regular classroom briefing is conducted by IT for all new lecturers prior to the new semester starts, so that all lecturers is familiar in using the classroom multimedia equipment functionality and IT facilities supporting either online, physical or hybrid teaching methods, so as to improve teaching and learning experience.

All classroom users (staff or student) are to

  • Read the classroom’s equipment guide available on the rostrum.
  • Test the multimedia devices in the lecture room 15mins before class starts.
  • Keep the multimedia equipment in good operating condition and appearance.
  • Keep the loaned equipment in good operating condition and appearance.
  • To use the equipment for academic, research, or non-profit use only, and not for any commercial use or application.
  • Be held liable for any damage or missing equipment, as the owner of the booking.
  • NOT damage the equipment in any way, including writing, spraying, scratching, etc.

All computer labs users (staff or student) are to

The computer labs is a dedicated space equipped with a range of computer resources to support various tasks, learning, and productivity. Each lab is equipped with the latest computers along with a variety of software and equipment peripherals depending on the purpose and usage of the lab. The computer lab is a shared space meant for everyone’s benefit, we aim to provide a pleasant environment for staff or students for learning, teaching, and research purposes.

Users are not permitted to use the computers and multimedia equipment for unauthorized purposes or non-academic related activities. Lab’s computers are not meant for temporary or permanent storage of files. Systems are configured to erase/reset everything and returns it back to uncluttered, defragmented state for every system reboot.

Lab’s Computers Usage Guidelines

Users are responsible to ensure the proper usage and good condition of the equipment indicated below, and notify IT staff immediately if the equipment is damaged, lost or malfunctioning. Should there be any damage or loss of the equipment after use, the user is obligated to provide full cooperation in the investigation.

  1. Projector, microphone, monitor, mouse, keyboard and other multimedia devices etc. 
  2. For some of the labs, USB ports are disabled to protects endpoints against rogue USB devices by proactively preventing the transmission of malicious files.
  3. NEVER leave the equipment unattended. Ensure it is return to the secure location after used.

To ensure fair and proper use of the Library’s computers, users may not:

  1. Engage in illegal activities such as tampering with computer hardware or software; unauthorized entry into any computer system; or vandalism or destruction of computer files;
  2. Use the computer for the purpose of personal profit gain or for commercial activities;
  3. Access, transmit, store, print, promote or display offensive, obscene content;
  4. Install or uninstall any programs in the computer;
  5. Knowingly or inadvertently spread computer viruses;
  6. Damage the equipment in any way, including writing, spraying, scratching, etc.;
  7. Enter the computer room with food and beverages except plain drinking water;

 

Disclaimers:

  1. University does not take any responsibility for the recovery of files saved on the hard drive or files accidentally left on the hard drive.
  2. University is not responsible for any personal data leakage or data loss due to hardware, software or logout failure using campus computer, which are meant for academic used purposes. 
  3. You are responsible for any consequences arising from inappropriate uploading and/or downloading of any copyright-protected files.
  4. Under no circumstances will the University be held responsible or liable in any way for any claims, damages, losses, expenses, costs or liabilities whatsoever.
  5. By using lab’s computer, you agree to be bound by the entire terms and conditions. You hereby understand and agree that the Services are provided to you on “as is where is” and “best-effort” basis without any express or implied warranty or condition of any kind. We do not make representations towards the accuracy, satisfactory quality, merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement.
