The Chinese Seal Carving Exhibition

The Chinese Seal Carving Exhibition officially opens at Xiamen University Malaysia on 9 June 2025, offering students, staff, and visitors an opportunity to explore the intricate beauty of traditional Chinese seal carving.

The exhibition presents 59 seal carving works created by students enrolled in the course Chinese Seal Carving (G0179) for 2025/02 semester. These pieces reflect a diverse range of styles and inspirations -some draw from the techniques of classical Chinese masters such as Qi Baishi and Deng Shiru, while others incorporate Japanese aesthetics or deeply personal narratives.

Each seal on display tells a unique story. Some are tributes to family traditions or departed loved ones, while others commemorate milestones, dreams, or special occasions like birthdays. To deepen audience engagement, the students’ personal reflections and stories behind their works have been printed and displayed alongside the artworks.

To complement the visual exhibition, the university library has curated a mini reading corner featuring selected books on seal carving, and calligraphy. Visitors are encouraged to browse these materials to gain a fuller understanding of the cultural context behind the art form.

In addition to the exhibit, visitors are invited to participate in a stamping activity designed to introduce the tactile experience of seal art. No prior experience is required, and all materials are provided at the venue.

The exhibition will be held from 9 to 30 June 2025 (Stamping Week: 9 to 15 June 2025) at the 2nd Floor, Block A3, Xiamen University Malaysia.

篆刻，是中华传统艺术中的一方“留白”。在厦门大学马来西亚分校，这门艺术早已成为课堂中的常客。

通识选修课Chinese Seal Carving（G0179）自开设以来，致力于将篆刻艺术以实践与审美并重的方式，带入学生的视野。通过理论学习与动手训练的结合，学生们不仅有机会了解印章的文化与技艺，更在一刀一刻间，完成对自我表达与情感投射的探索。

即日起，2025/02学期学生的结课篆刻作品将在图书馆2楼展出。这是一次作品的呈现，更是一场关于青春与创造的记录。

📖59方印章，59个故事

本次展览共展出59件学生作品，风格多元，创意丰富。其中，有的作品借鉴了齐白石、邓散木等大师的篆刻风格，也有作品融合了日式美学，或展现出独特的个人表达。

每一枚印章背后都有一段故事，或是缅怀已故亲人，或是表达对未来的期许，

亦或是传递对亲友的生日祝福。这些创作故事被精心整理、打印成文，与作品一同展出，让你在欣赏图章之美的同时，读见创作者的情感与思绪。

此外，图书馆也在展区陈列了与篆刻相关的书籍，供你自由翻阅，深入了解篆刻艺术的历史与文化。
